Photos courtesy of Hannah Jones(KSL News) -- A freak accident involving the back tire of a semi-truck totaled one car and damaged two other Wednesday.
The back tire of the semi-truck flew off its axle as the semi drove down the I-15. The tire rolled down a hill into a parking lot near 14300 S. Pony Express in Draper, hitting three cars.
After hitting the hood and windshield of a gold Dodge Stratus. The tire then became airborne, flying across the parking lot and smashing into a Toyota Matrix. The wheel finally came to a stop when it fell sideways and hit the Maxima.
The truck kept driving, but was eventually stopped by the Utah Highway Patrol. They discovered the truck was out of fluid, causing the bearings to wear down and set the tires loose.
Owners of the damaged cars say they're just glad no one was hurt.

Hannah Jones: "Had it not been for the three cars, the tire would have smashed into the row of window offices, possibly injuring someone."
