OGDEN -- Ogden police are investigating a shooting that left one man injured and a suspect on the run. Officers believe the incident was gang-related.
Police say 19-year-old Aldo Godinez was sitting on his front porch in the 800 block of 20th Street around 11:30 p.m. Thursday when someone walked up, asked him his name, and then fired twice with a shotgun loaded with birdshot. The victim was hit in the hand and hip.
The gunman fired another round as the victim ran inside his home. The birdshot hit the doorjamb of the house. The gunman fled.
Godinez was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital where he was expected to recover from his injuries.
Investigators say the incident may be related to gang retaliation from the past month.
Lt. Loring Draper of the Ogden Police Department said, "We'll be paying a lot more attention to gang activity and try to suppress it as much as possible to make sure there's not a second retaliation or follow up retaliation."
Police say Godinez is not very cooperative in the investigation. He refused to tell officers who shot him, and wouldn't give a detailed description of the shooter.
