OREM, Utah (AP) -- A man who worked as a Santa at an Orem mall has lost his job after a mother apparently accused him of making an inappropriate comment to her teenage daughter.
Officials at University Mall say a mother took her kids to the visit Santa Claus last Thursday. However, she returned the next day to report what she believed was an inappropriate comment made toward her child.
Mall management says claims of the mother differed considerably from those of Santa and other witnesses. However, to be on the safe side, mall officials investigated the claim and decided to let Santa go.
The mall has since hired another Santa for the remainder of the holiday shopping season.
