SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The State Board of Education says enrollment in the state's schools increased by two-point-eight percent this year, up to 524,000 students.
Alpine and Jordan saw the largest number of new students, with more than 1,200 in each district.
Statewide, at least 14,000 more students are expected next year.
Utah's 51 charter schools saw a 67-point-four percent increase in enrollment this year, adding 7,767 new students and bringing their total to 19,000. Charter school enrollment is expected to grow another 25 percent next year.
