SALT LAKE CITY -- Jazz coach Jerry Sloan has been attending team workouts, happy to be back to work after undergoing a knee replacement.
Nearly two months since the surgery, Sloan was at the team's first pre-draft workout last week.
"I'm not going to say it feels pretty good. It's a whole new lifestyle when you have a new knee put in," Sloan said.
Sloan didn't wait long to have that new right knee put in. He had the surgery just three days after losing to the Lakers in the first round of the playoffs.
Surgery for the 67-year-old coach was tougher than expected. "It's been tough, but that's what I expected. I didn't expect some of the things that came up in the process," he said.
Blood clots kept him in bed and put him behind in his recovery. "I'm a lot better than I was and I'm happy about that but I'm disappointed that I'm a couple of weeks behind," Sloan said.
Now back in the game, Sloan's primary focus is preparing for the upcoming draft. "You know you always hear people talk about a weak draft, but there's always someone that comes out and plays and surprised people. Some you expect to play sometimes don't, so it's not 100 percent," he said.
Sloan's not 100 percent either. He's still trying to build his strength.
"Staying in the house for five weeks, can you imagine being married and being in the house 24 hours a day? Go and tell me you like that. Tell the truth," he said.
Sloan says his family is ready to have him back at work as well.
