HURRICANE, Utah (AP) -- An inmate who escaped last weekend from the Washington County jail was captured Wednesday in Las Vegas after a brief chase by car and on foot, the sheriff's office said.
As Las Vegas police pursued him, Doyle Dockstader dashed from a stolen vehicle and was caught, Lt. Jake Adams said.
Dockstader, 28, likely will face charges related to the chase before he is returned to Utah, Adams said.
"I'm relieved that he was taken safely into custody," Adams said.
Dockstader fled Sunday from the exercise yard of the Purgatory Correctional Facility while a guard was taking care of an injured inmate. He scaled a series of fences to make his escape.
Sheriff Kirk Smith said three hours passed before Dockstader's absence was noticed.
He had been in jail for less than a month for crimes that included assault and illegal possession of a weapon.
