ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) -- A federal judge has tossed out a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of an inmate who died in 2003 while in Washington County's jail.

The judge said 54-year-old Raymond Boyett's family failed to show enough evidence that the jail's staff was negligent in NOT providing adequate medical care for the Toquerville man.

Attorneys for Boyett's family claimed there were indications that Boyett was denied medical attention for injuries that appeared to have been intentionally inflicted. Even though the jail's staff said he fell down some stairs.

Boyett was found dead in his jail cell in September. The autopsy report said he died from heart failure. However, his family claims there was evidence of blunt-force trauma and other injuries, indicating foul play.
