Alligator surprises Fla. woman planning test drive

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (AP) - Check your engine for alligators. Denise Anderson, 33, planned to test drive a used SUV on Tuesday morning but got a big surprise, an alligator that measured more than 8 feet long.

"I saw its eyes. Mouth. Its jaws. Its teeth, Anderson told the St. Petersburg Times.

Managers of the Sun Toyota dealership called police for help. A licensed trapper also was called.

Mark Lewis with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said trapped gators that measure 4 feet or longer are "generally disposed."

Lewis said its busy season for alligator sightings.
