News ReleaseLOGAN, Utah - Utah State football hosted a successful "Junior Day" on Saturday, with roughly 400 visitors representing roughly 100 different high schools from seven states.

Aggie football head coach Gary Andersen and his coaching staff welcomed student-athletes from Utah, Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, Texas and Wyoming. The day is designed for high school juniors and their parents to tour the USU campus and athletic facilities, meet with admissions officials and get an early look at what makes Utah State such a unique and exciting university. It was also a great opportunity to meet and interact with the Aggie coaching staff along with University and Athletic Department representatives.

"These student-athletes were able to see Utah State from A-Z," Andersen said. "This is a great opportunity for people to make the drive to Cache Valley and feel the true appreciation for this campus and this community, and see first hand the commitment to the program made by the University and the community."

The four-hour event included a complete tour of the Jim and Carol Laub Athletics-Academics Complex, including the locker room, equipment room and meeting rooms, as well as the athletic training facilities and the student-athlete academic services area. Participants also went on a complete campus tour, seeing classrooms, campus housing, dining service areas, along with meeting with USU admissions and housing officials.

"This is a structured way to give them education on what they need to do to be an eligible student-athlete," Andersen said.

Along with Andersen, Utah State President Dr. Stan Albrecht and USU Athletics Director Scott Barnes addressed the honored guests, along with Dr. Brian Evans, Director of Student-Athlete Services; Jake Garlock, Director of Compliance; Jake Scharnhorst, Strength and Conditioning Coordinator; Dale Mildenberger, Head Athletic Trainer and Carrie Milligan, Admissions Program Coordinator.

Andersen and Utah State open the 2009 season against Utah on Thursday, Sept. 3. After a bye and a road game at Texas A&M on Saturday, Sept. 19, USU hosts in-state foe Southern Utah in the Aggies' home opener on Saturday, Sept. 26.

Utah State football season ticket renewal applications are currently available online at www.utahstateaggies.com. General Admission season tickets are also available for purchase. Orders for both West and East side reserved seats are also being taken with payment, though seat locations will not be available until after June 1.
