NEW YORK, Nov 21, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- FBI agents in Newark, N.J., and Philadelphia recovered the Goya painting that was stolen from a truck earlier this month while in transit to New York.

The painting -- "Children with a Cart" -- was being transported from the collection of the Toledo Museum of Art in Ohio to a major exhibition now open at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan, The New York Times reported Tuesday.

The painting was reportedly found Saturday in central New Jersey after an anonymous lawyer called the FBI and told them where the painting was, adding that he could not tell them anything else about the theft.

Since the investigation has not been closed, officials cannot release information on where or how the painting was found, the Times said.

Toledo Museum of Art officials said the painting would not be included as a late entry in the Guggenheim show, "Spanish Painting From El Greco to Picasso: Time, Truth and History," a huge exhibition including 135 paintings by Spanish artists. Instead, the 1778 painting will be returned to Toledo.
