SALT LAKE CITY -- A gruesome scene played out Friday at the University of Utah as dozens of students helped first responders train for a real life emergency.

The university's burn unit teamed up with the Salt Lake City Fire Department to learn how to respond to a large number of burn victims.

Students from Granite Technical Institute played the victims of a mock explosion inside a crowded bus, and crews got the chance to use a new triage system designed at the university during the scenario.
