This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
I have mentioned before on this program how, as a consummate foodie, I enjoy trying new types of cuisine, particularly ethnic foods. Not only does it remind me of the places I've traveled to but it also allows me to sample something unique and out of the ordinary. My most recent find is an Indian restaurant in Draper.
Aroma Indian Cuisine provides patrons an authentic taste of India. Owners Fazal and Roma Obaid uses a variety of herbs and spices that create succulent dishes their diners love. With a large selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian items, Roma says diners are sure to find something to delight their palate. Along with traditional curries, clay oven baked breads, tandoori chicken, a variety of Bryanis (or basmati rice), the restaurant also offers Lassis (Indian milkshakes) and signature Indian desserts.
Chicken or lamb coconut kurma, a delicious dish with chicken breast or lamb cooked with coconut milk, onions, garlic, ginger, tomatoes, cashew nuts and raisins, is one of the top selling items. Diners go crazy over petit or garlic nan baked in the clay oven. The restaurant also offers a daily lunch buffet from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with a rotating menu.
For a long time, Roma dreamed of opening her own restaurant. Cooking is deeply embedded in her genes. Her grandfather was a chef who studied in England and earned the prestigious gold medal designation. Her parents both had restaurant experience. Roma first learned to cook at age 9 as she helped care for her younger siblings. Following extensive training, Roma and Fazal opened Aroma Indian Cuisine in October 2007.
Roma prides herself on both the quality and quantity of the food served in the restaurant. She is careful about the fat content of the dishes she prepares and cooks them the same way she would for her own family. Roma and Fazal hope Aroma Indian Cuisine can continue enchanting those searching for an authentic taste of India.
