SALT LAKE COUNTY -- A buckling freeway caused some problems for drivers in the Salt Lake Valley Monday afternoon.

The problem is in the northbound lanes near the Interstate 15 interchange with Bangerter Highway. Both outside lanes are closed, restricting traffic to the three inside lanes.

The Utah Department of Transportation says it recently filled a pothole with asphalt and today's warmer weather caused it to expand and buckle the road.

Lanes should be open and ready for drivers for the Tuesday morning commute.
