Gene Kennedy ReportingWhen closing time came at a bar in Holladay, it didn't sit well with one of the patrons. Police say he took it out on the bartender.
Sheriff's deputies say the customer just didn't want to leave the bar at 3943 South Highland Drive. They say he hit the bartender in the face with a glass. Then his friend jumped into the fight.
The friend is the man who we have video of, with a bloody face. He was also seen wearing handcuffs. Police were going to take that man to jail, but it turns out he was injured to the point they took him to the hospital instead.
The situation escalated as another bar employee got into the fight. So a total of four people were involved in the brawl. Three of them were taken to the hospital. The bar tender had the most serious injuries.
Lt. Rod Norton, Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office: "Medical arrived and looked at the victim. We immediately hauled him out of here. So I can't tell you exactly what his condition is, except that he may have had an arterial bleed under his arm."
The bartender is at U of U Hospital.
Initially police said they couldn't find the attacker, the man who started the fight. But he turned himself in at a hospital. Authorities say he will need surgery.
