SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah baseball team ends its regular season with a three-game series against San Diego State at Lindquist Field in Ogden. The Utes are looking to finish the season on a high note going into the MWC Tournament next week.

"You always want your team to be playing well going into the tournament, and although we lost two last weekend, we have been playing some pretty solid baseball," head coach Bill Kinneberg said. "We need to continue that this weekend to go into the tournament with a positive feel."

Utah went 1-2 against No. 15 TCU in Fort Worth last weekend (May 8-10), winning the second game in wild fashion, 15-11. Nick Kuroczko, Devin Walker and C.J. Cron each hit three-run home runs in the game for the Utes.

The Aztecs are currently fighting for seeding in the MWC Tournament, as they have the opportunity to take second in the standings for tournament seeding.

Pitcher Stephen Strasburg, who is projected to be the No. 1 pick in the upcoming Major League Baseball draft, is 11-0 with a nation-leading 164 strikeouts. He will start against Utah in Thursday's game.

"Facing Stephen on Thursday will be a great challenge for our team and it will be exciting for our fans to see him pitch," Kinneberg said. "He is maybe the best pitcher in the history of college baseball."

The Utes have faced Strasburg four times in the past two seasons. Of Strasburg's six career losses, two of those have come against Utah, and he is 2-2 overall against the Utes. The Utes are the only team he has two losses against, and are the last team he has lost against in collegiate play.
