CENTERFIELD -- A Sanpete County woman is in jail, accused in the death of her toddler. Police in Centerfield arrested Arial Hampton Friday afternoon.
On Thursday night, paramedics were called to Hampton's home on a report that her 2-year-old daughter, Kirsten, had drowned. The child was rushed to the Gunnison Valley Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Hampton was arrested after doctors found the cause of death was inconsistent with drowning. Her sister-in-law says there was a history of violence.
"We got up really fast to check on the baby, and she threw her across the room onto the couch saying she wanted to kill her. She is constantly hurting those children," Crystal Marie Brown said.
There was a candlelight vigil held Friday Night at Brown's home in American Fork. They say Kirsten, despite being abused, was always a smiling, happy little girl.
