SALT LAKE CITY -- An argument turned violent in Salt Lake City overnight. Two people went to the hospital.
Police don't know what started the altercation at an apartment near 100 South and 300 East around 1 a.m., but they say the situation quickly turned physical.
Lt. Brian Purvis of the Salt Lake City Police Department said, "The man was beating the woman over the head with a toaster, and she was able to get a hold of a kitchen knife to defend herself."
Both suffered cuts from the ordeal and were taken to the hospital.
After the man is treated, he will be booked into jail on domestic violence and aggravated assault charges.
His name was not immediately released.
