SALT LAKE CITY -- Some TRAX trains are running on a different schedule this week.

The TRAX power cables that run under the I-80 bridges from 1700 South to 2700 South need to be replaced and the system upgraded.

"There is wear and tear that takes place on this system," said Utah Transit Authority spokesman Gerry Carpenter.

He says that means there will be only one set of tracks for the trains to run on.

"Instead of the 15 minute service, the line that runs from Sandy to Salt Lake will run every 20 minutes," Carpenter explained.

There also won't be any direct trains in the afternoon from the University of Utah to Sandy. Some riders will need to switch trains at the Gallivan station.
