Press releaseSalt Lake County - The Salt Lake Valley Health Department (SLVHD) today announced that 2-1-1 Information and Referral will serve as the public hotline for local Utahns with questions about the swine flu. Call specialists will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday to answer questions and provide referrals to local organizations that can meet a caller's immediate needs.

2-1-1 Call Specialists are trained and have the most up-to-date information provided by the Salt Lake Valley Health Department. They are prepared to provide information including how the pandemic flu is spread, how to stay healthy, symptoms of swine flu and who to contact if the caller feels he/she has contracted the illness.
"The announcement of a potential pandemic can be unsettling and questions regarding the illness naturally arise. Our goal is to provide the public with one phone number they can call to have their swine flu questions answered," 2-1-1 Director Lorna Koci said.

2-1-1 Information and Referral is a statewide program of Utah Food Bank Services. The easy-to-remember telephone number connects people with important health and human services programs throughout the communities of Utah. The 2-1-1 call center is easily accessed by any phone and all calls are free and confidential.
