Gene Kennedy reportingEyewitness News has learned the Salt Lake City house where a dead body was found outside last week is the center of another investigation.

Detectives were there last night searching the home, located near 309 N. 900 West They went investigating a kidnapping and learned that a sexual assault occurred there.

Police say Christine Armstrong lives in the house. Police believe Armstrong lured a woman into the house on October 15th and that Armstrong and McGaughy tied the woman up and severely beat and raped her for two days.

The woman escaped and ran to a neighbor's house.

Ten days later, McGaughy's body was dumped on the driveway of the same house.

Det. Joe Cyr, Salt Lake City Police Dept.: "Is there a relationship between the kidnapping and the homicide? Because the kidnapping happened before the homicide and my answer to that has been that our detectives are looking into that possibility but don't have any conclusive evidence right now."

Someone shot Raymond McGaughy and dumped his body in front of his own home.

Yesterday police arrested Doyle Smith, a white supremacist who's a person of interest in McGaughy's death. He's still in custody on unrelated warrants. He is not charged with murder.

Det. Joe Cyr, Salt Lake Police Dept.: "Doyle Smith has been cooperative, as far as being interviewed. Doyle Smith remains a person of interest. In fact, everyone that has been a person of interest in the past remains in that status until the homicide is closed and solved."

Through crime records, Eyewitness News found out that Smith and the victim had been in prison at the same time. Smith was released in July, just a month after Raymond McGaughy was let out.

Finally, as if there couldn't be any more layers to this story, the day before police found McGaughy's body in that driveway, there was a drive-by shooting at an apartment in Sugarhouse. Police are looking into whether that is connected to McGaughy's murder.
