TOOELE -- Two pit bulls were shot to death Sunday night in Tooele. Police are trying to figure out what led to the shooting.
The woman who owns the two dogs claims they were chasing her neighbor's dogs back onto his property near 300 South and 100 West when he shot them around 6:30 p.m.
She says this has been an ongoing problem with the neighbor.
"We feel it was out of malice. We've had animal control out here, we've had the sheriff's (deputies) out here. He told my daughter that he had a 9 millimeter gun and he could use it if necessary," she said.
But the neighbor told police the dogs were acting in a threatening manner and attacked his own dogs, so he grabbed his gun and shot the two.
Tooele Police Chief Ron Kirby said, "We're going to look and see if there was a dispute, see how long it had been going on."
No one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
