GREEN RIVER -- Slick roads contributed to a fatal accident today on Interstate-70 west of Green River Saturday.

A 16-year-old boy was killed when the vehicle he was riding in crashed.

It happened at about 9:30 p.m. near Green River on I-70. The Utah Highway Patrol says the SUV was traveling too fast for the snowy conditions and the driver lost control. The vehicle slid into the median and overturned several times.

The teen, Octavio Garcia Rivas, was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the SUV.

The driver and four other passengers were wearing their seat belts. One of the other four passengers was transported to a local hospital with a leg injury. The driver and remaining three passengers were not injured.

Another accident Saturday night near Brigham City injured two people.

The driver of a white car plowed through the median on I-15 and into oncoming traffic. An SUV hit it and sent it spinning.

Crews had to cut the roof off the SUV to get a passenger out. Three people went to the hospital.
