SALT LAKE CITY -- A record number of police officers lost their certifications in 2008.
The Deseret News reports that last year the Utah Peace Officer Standards and Training Council conducted 124 investigations into alleged officer misconduct last year.
Of those, 23 officers had their certifications revoked, 30 were suspended and the rest had some kind of disciplinary action taken against them.
Council members say tougher regulations have led to the increased number of investigations.
