Forensic Scientist Karen Elliott is talking about fingerprints. "It's certainly being challenged a lot more," she says.

Elliott and her group, The Utah International Association for Identification are holding a convention telling police and others how to fight those challenges. She says the technology has gotten better.

"Now we have a database where we can actually input a latent print from a crime scene," she said. And since it's on computers, it becomes more reliable. "Makes for a little bit clearer imprint now."

The convention runs through Thursday.
