OREM, Utah (AP) -- An Orem man accused of hitting another man in the head with an iron during a fight has been arrested.

Police say a 23-year-old man threw a party at his Orem apartment Sunday night. Later on, the man became intoxicated and started yelling at and pushing his girlfriend, who was trying to put their seven-month-old baby to sleep.

Officers say when a 21-year-old man walked into the room to see what was going on, the boyfriend attacked him with an iron. Police say the younger man tried to defend himself but suffered severe cuts to his head.

The boyfriend was later arrested and booked into jail. The younger man was taken to the hospital for a head injury.
