(KSL News) -- He tried to run and hide, but Provo police found a man they say started a fire at a motel.
Harry Lawrence Vannatta was found hiding under a pile of grass clippings near the Traveler's Inn.
The owner of the motel said he went to Vannatta's room yesterday morning after smelling smoke and found the door barricaded.
Crews were able to put out the fire quickly, but 30-thousand dollars of damage was still done.
Police will not say how the fire started as the investigation is ongoing. Vannatta is now in the Utah County jail.
