SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah lawmakers have voted to update electronic harassment laws to include texting and e-mailing.

Senate Bill 91, sponsored by Sen. Jon Greiner, R-Ogden, would expand the current harassment law beyond the use of telephone calls to include any form of text messaging or e-mailing.

Electronic harassment of a minor could result in a class A misdemeanor and a class B misdemeanor against an adult.

The bill passed the Utah House 65-1 on Wednesday. It will now be sent to the governor.
