SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah's unemployment rate is now approaching 5 percent, although it is still well below the national average.
New numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows 4.6 percent of Utahns are now without jobs, up from 3.2 just a week ago.
That means more than 20,000 people in the state lost their jobs in the past year.
Nationwide the unemployment rate stands at 7.6 percent.
