VERNAL, Utah (AP) -- The city of Vernal's only justice court judge is on paid administrative leave and facing a misdemeanor charge of obstructing justice.
Judge Cleopatra McRae was placed on leave Monday by Utah Supreme Court Chief Justice Christine Durham.
Nancy Volmer, a spokeswoman for Utah courts, says the law requires that judges be placed on leave if they're facing a Class A misdemeanor or a felony.
Charging documents accuse McRae of harboring or concealing a person from law enforcement, the Vernal Express reported. She is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
A call from The Associated Press to McRae's attorney, D. Gilbert Athay, was not immediately returned Wednesday.
McRae was appointed Vernal's justice court judge in 1993.
