A Midvale couple's domestic dispute turned into a police chase. The couple was seriously injured. One of them jumped from a car before it crashed.
At about 2 a.m., a Midvale police officer tried to pull over the car along 7500 South at 500 East because it did not have a license plate. Police say the driver, Jason Matthews, would not stop.
They say he eventually pulled into a driveway, put the car in reverse and attempted to back into a police vehicle. He then put the car in drive and accelerated.
That's when his passenger, Stephanie Flint, decided to jump from the car.
"She was not able to and was caught underneath the car and suffered some pretty severe injuries," said Sgt. Marcelo Rapela of the Midvale Police Department.
The car then crashed into a cargo truck and Mathews had to be cut out from the car. Both he and the Flint are now in the hospital with serious injures.
Flint told police they had been fighting prior to the crash.
