SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Salt Lake City's grand dame of restaurants, Lamb's Grill Cafe, marked a significant anniversary Sunday -- it's 90th year in business.

Owner John Speros estimates that over nine decades the restaurant has served about 10 million diners.

Greek immigrant George P. Lamb founded the original cafe in Logan Feb. 22, 1919 and moved to Salt Lake City's Main Street in 1939.

Speros' father, Ted, worked for Lamb as a dishwasher and later became the cafe's manager. The pair became business partners in 1941. John Speros took over operations in 1977.

From lamb shanks and lentil soup to rice pudding, John Speros says about 75 percent of the Lamb's menu is just as it was in 1919.

No birthday bash is planned for the restaurant, but customers will be treated to a piece of cake topped with cherry cobbler.
