(KSL News) -- A group of Utah elementary students got a history lesson with a sweet twist today.
Students at Orchard Elementary in North Salt Lake got to meet the man known as the Candy Bomber.
Lt. Gale Halverson got the nickname during World War II when he decided to drop candy from his plane to the children in Germany.
Halverson visited with students as a reward for meeting a reading goal by reading history books. In addition to an assembly, students got to take part in a candy drop of their own.
