KSL Newsradio's Randall Jeppeson reportingBrigham Young University is once again accepting applications from students to study in the Holy Land and the BYU Jerusalem center. Some are jumping at the chance to go, despite the turmoil in the Middle East.
David Bailey wishes he was in Jerusalem right now. He was one of the 150 students who applied to re-open the Jerusalem Center to students this fall, but the Israeli-Lebanon conflict kept students out.
"I had my hopes up, yes," said Bailey.
Bailey says he will make it to the Holy Land, and he's not worried by the violence.
"They've always had that, they always will," he said.
He and his soon-to-be-wife are planning a Jerusalem trip regardless if the next BYU group makes it or not.
"So you just basically take your camera and your clothes," he said. "You can leave everything there if you want, but send your pictures back."
He says it worth taking the risk to learn more about the life of Christ.
