(KSL News) A traffic accident near the turnoff to Sundance shut down the highway in Provo Canyon this morning.
Utah Highway Patrol troopers say the driver of a car heading down the canyon crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and hit another vehicle nearly head on. Both drivers were taken to the hospital in critical condition. One passenger in each vehicle was seriously hurt. One of the victims had to be extricated.
The highway was completely shut for about 20 minutes, and then only one lane was open for another hour. The road is now completely reopened.
