(KSL News) Salt Lake Mayor Ralph Becker just returned from Washington and a meeting with President Obama to discuss the economic stimulus package. The mayor says he thinks it's essential that the measure pass quickly.

As it's drawn up now, the stimulus package would create 33,000 jobs here in Utah.

"You think about an infusion of that many jobs, that much work in Utah, and I think the hope is, and really the expectation is that, that will give a sufficient jolt to the economy," Becker said.

Becker had attended the inauguration and says the euphoria of that event is gone and has been replaced with an intense sense of urgency to get the nation's economy back on track.
