Tonya Papanikolas reporting The family of a young woman killed in a crash with a dump truck is going through many different emotions right now as they prepare to bury her Tuesday.
Eve Hansen, Mother: "Grief and mourning and missing her and knowing that all of the experiences that we're not gonna get to have."
27-year-old Lorna Lister was killed Thursday in a crash with a dump truck. Lorna Lister loved helping people. That's why her family says she went into social work.
Brent Lister, Lorna's Father: "Really gained satisfaction in helping troubled children."
Her family says Lorna's goal was to work with kids in the schools. So when she was offered a job working in Park City schools, she jumped at the opportunity.
Eve Hansen, Lorna's Mother: "She had just started that job. That's where she was headed when the accident happened."
During her commute on Thursday, the driver of a dump truck veered into oncoming traffic. He clipped the van in front of Lister and then completely crushed her Volkswagen Jetta. She died at the scene. Highway Patrol troopers believe the truck driver who swerved into traffic may have had a medical problem.
Lorna's mom says hearing the news was heart-wrenching.
Eve Hansen: "Probably it would come close to the feeling if I said my heart was feeling like someone just grabbed hold of it and pulled it out."
Hansen says her daughter accomplished a lot in her 27 years.
Eve Hansen: "She was a talented writer, she wrote a lot of stories and things like that."
Lorna wrote a religious children's book. She also loved music and taught herself how to play the guitar. After the accident, her family found a song she was writing in her car.
Eve Hansen: "We have thousands of songs that are etched out on notepads and things like that."
Her LDS faith was also important to Lorna. Her family says that faith is also giving them hope, along with the many people who have reached out to support them.
Eve Hansen: "You know the tragedy of that has been offset by the generosity."
As they prepare now for their daughter's funeral, Lorna's parents say they will always remember their daughter as an inspiration.
Lorna's parents say it's important for them to find out exactly what happened in the crash, so they can move on. It will likely be several weeks before the investigation is complete.
