(KSL News) -- A large group of cyclists in Salt Lake pushed the pedals in a memorial bike ride this morning.
The annual ride honors those killed in collisions with cars while bike riding. The riders also paid tribute to Josie Johnson, who was killed while riding up Big Cottonwood Canyon two year ago.
Johnson's death has motivated the cycling public to try to make cycling safer on the roads.
Deputy District Attorney, Chris Bown: "I think the biking community and the rest of the community needs to be aware of each other so we don't have these types of incidents where an innocent person gets hit from behind and killed."
As for new laws for cyclists, they've made progress by getting the Three-Foot Law signed. That law requires motorists to give cyclists a three-foot cushion when passing.
