A man involved in a standoff with Salt Lake City police overnight is now in custody.
Police and a SWAT team had surrounded a duplex on Lincoln Street near 2100 South and 900 East, where police said a man with a gun refused to come out of his home.
Officers got a call around 9:30 last night from the man's wife. Apparently the man was distraught over losing his job and had made a threat. His wife left the home.
Just after 8 a.m. the SWAT team entered the home through an unlocked door. They found the 46-year-old man inside and a rifle in the kitchen. Police took him into custody, and he went with them peacefully. No shots were fired.
Police say the man will be evaluated. He could face charges.
A nearby grocery store had been evacuated as a precaution while the standoff was going on.
