SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Luke Nevill scored a career-high 32 points to lead Utah to a 94-88 overtime win against rival BYU on Tuesday night.

Luka Drca added 18 points, nine assists and seven rebounds for the Utes (13-7, 4-2 Mountain West).

Both teams had a chance to win in the final seconds of regulation, but Drca missed a runner with about five seconds left, and BYU's Jonathan Tavernari missed a last-second 3-pointer after the Cougars raced the rebound upcourt.

The Utes scored seven straight points midway through overtime, but they had to outlast a flurry of late Cougar baskets that kept it close.

Lee Cummard led BYU (16-4, 3-3) with 23 points, while Jimmer Fredette added 19 points and 10 assists. Tavernari finished with 16 points.

The game was the first overtime matchup between the teams since 1991, when BYU won 51-49 in the Western Athletic Conference tournament. The Utes' win Tuesday night snapped a four-game losing streak against their biggest rival.
