CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- A man convicted of shooting a Cedar City police officer in 2007 has been sentenced to two consecutive terms of five years to life in prison.
Bryan Featherhat, 32, was convicted of attempted aggravated murder and aggravated robbery in November.
Officer Jason Thomas was shot twice with a 12-gauge shotgun in January 2007 after stopping to help Featherhat, whose pickup truck slid off an icy road.
Featherhat was sentenced Tuesday in 5th District Court after apologizing to Thomas, who recovered from the injuries.
Defense attorney Jack Burns had requested that Featherhat serve two concurrent terms.
