As you track the conference standings this season, keep in mind that all MWC teams are in a race to "five."

*******

Using the following scoring scale, "points" are awarded thusly:

Home Win = 0

Home Loss = -1

Road Win = +1

Road Loss = 0

--

Currently, TCU, Utah, BYU and San Diego State are all tied at +1, with New Mexico, UNLV and Wyoming "even." CSU is -1, and Air Force is -3.

*******

In each of the last five seasons, there has been an outright MWC champion; and in each of the last five seasons, that champion has ended "+5" or better. A score of "+5" has historically guaranteed a title, as the conference's alltime second-place finishers have never finished better than "+4."

--

2007-08: BYU +6

2006-07: BYU +5

2005-06: SDSU +5

2004-05: Utah +6

2003-04: Air Force +5

2002-03: BYU/Utah +4

2001-02: Wyoming +4

2000-01: BYU/Utah/Wyo +3

1999-00: UNLV/Utah +3

--

Note that prior to 2005-06, the MWC consisted of only 8 teams. The maximum "+/-" score a team could achieve in the first six years of the league was "+7." Since the 2005-06 season, the new maximum score is "+8."
