(KSL News) Bangerter Highway is open again after a five-car pile up shut it down.

Police aren't sure what caused the accident at 700 West near the Jordan River, but one car sideswiped another, causing that car to spin. A third car crashed into it.

While trying to avoid the accident, a fourth car rear-ended a fifth vehicle.

Mike Ulibarri, Acting Battalion Chief, Unified Fire Authority: "Upon arrival, units found multiple patients, several of them trapped inside the vehicle. We had multiple units doing extrication, cutting those patients free and stabilizing those vehicle with struts."
