More snacks are being recalled because of the danger of tainted peanut butter.
The fallout has hit Little Debbie snacks. McKee foods spokesperson Mike Gloekler says it has issued a recall of the Little Debbie brand Peanut Butter Toasty and Peanut Butter Cheese Sandwich Crackers. "We did this largely to be in line with the Kellogg's company recall of their Austin and Keebler brands of the same cracker," company spokeswoman Kris Charles said.
Charles says her company is recalling 16 products containing peanut butter. "It's approximately 33,000 cases of small, snack-size packs that a consumer might find in a convenience store. And it's more than 7 million cases of the sandwich crackers," she said.
This weekend, federal health officials said people should just avoid all cookies, cakes, ice cream and other treats made with peanut butter until the deadly salmonella outbreak is solved. The FDA thinks the problem is in peanut butter and peanut paste made at a plant in Georgia.
