PROVO, Utah (AP) -- A Monticello couple accused of trying to stop their daughter from getting married now faces charges.

Court documents say 61-year-old Lemuel Reed and 58-year-old Julia Redd have been charged with second-degree kidnapping. They're accused of taking their daughter for a long drive against her will to keep her from getting married.

Police say the couple and their daughter, Julianna Reed, went shopping the morning of August fourth. But when they failed to return that night, the groom called police.

Officers say the couple took their daughter back to Provo the next day. However, police say it was after the time she was supposed to get married.

The couple is scheduled to make their initial court appearance on October 26th.
