(KSL News) Salt Lake's Gallivan Center is now on track for a nearly $6 million makeover.
Last night, the Salt Lake City Council unanimously approved conceptual drawings for the expansion project and a bond for the plaza.
The project will include a larger amphitheater, an upgraded ice skating area and a new building to house banquet facilities.
The Deseret News reports renovations would nearly double the current capacity of 1,000.
Officials hope to finish the project by the end of the summer.
