Coco Warner ReportingFor the first time in High Five history, we received two different nominations for the same person! So you know this gentleman must be pretty special.
Stan Powell drives a bus for the Davis County School district. Two moms of preschoolers who have autism say he deserves a huge pat on the back.
Heather Wright is one of the people who nominated Powell. She says Powell is the perfect example of someone who goes above and beyond his job description. Each morning, Powell meets her son on the driveway of their home with a huge smile, takes him by the hand and takes him back to the bus.
Wright says sometimes people aren't sure how to interact with her son because of his autism, but Powell doesn't let uncertainty stop him.
Sharilyn Hawkins also nominated Powell. She told us the night before preschool began, Powell came to their home and talked to them to make them comfortable with the bus situation. Each morning Powell greets her child with a big smile, a high five, and comments about what a great kid he is.
Powell says, "It's a privilege to be with the children. It just makes my day."
