(KSL News) Little Cottonwood Canyon is now open.
With yesterday's new snow, crews were forced to shut it down at 7:00 last night because of avalanche danger.
Crews began avalanche control at sunrise and finished around 8:45 a.m.
The winter weather also forced the closure of Big Cottonwood Canyon for some time.
Last night around 5:30 crews closed the mouth of the canyon because of an extreme avalanche danger. After avalanche control, they were able to reopen the road last night.
