This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.

Several Utah natives have represented the United States as ambassadors, including Gov. Jon Huntsman, John Price, David King and J. Reuben Clark. Utah is home to another effective and well-recognized ambassador: the International Children's Choir. This world-renowned choir has spread great music, love and happiness in many ways.

I personally have enjoyed their music many times, particularly in my work at the 2002 Winter Olympics. The choir performed in the Light of the World production and in three "Welcome the World" concerts with the Utah Symphony. In 2006, the International Children's Choir was invited to represent the American Continent in the Opening Ceremonies of The World Choir Olympics in Xiamen, China and received multiple medals in the competition.

Dr. Kathy Sorenson is the founder and director of The International Children's Choir. She earned a doctorate in music at the University of Utah and has served as a music professor at BYU. The ICC began 18 years ago as an outgrowth of her doctrinal research.

The International Children's Choir has performed in Carnegie Hall, St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican and in venues and concert halls throughout the world and occasionally with performers such as Kurt Bestor, Clay Aiken and Donny Osmond. Famous audience members have included the Dali Lama, royalty and heads of state. The choir has recorded numerous soundtracks, movie trailers and video games. The children in the choir dress in native costumes representing various countries. Some choir members have even immigrated to the United States from the countries they represent.

The International Children's Choir will be conducting free auditions for spring semester tomorrow. If your child is interested in auditioning, contact choir manager Sheri Stettler at 801-544-5584 or Kathy Sorenson at 801-484-4227 for directions and times.

For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
