KSL Newsradio's Greg Neft reporting It's a national trend in hospitals, no longer allowing parents or others to take pictures or videotape childbirth. Many hospitals say the liability concerns are just too great.
Officials at LDS Hospital tell KSL Newsradio it depends largely on whether a member of the medical team feels comfortable with cameras in the delivery room.
If there's an event where they're not comfortable being filmed by a family member or someone else in the room then they will say so," said hospital spokesman Jess Gomez.
Gomez said it's happened a number of times. "Sometimes it can become a distraction when you have family members in there video taping," he said.
Parents are generally okay with the policy, Gomez said, once they learn of it.
