(KSL News) -- Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration toured the proposed site of St George's new airport.
The FAA is giving the city a grant to start the project and presented the check to Mayor Daniel McArthur today.
The new airport will be built south of the Washington Fields area, between Saint George and Washington City.
Plans for the new facility have been under development for several years, but the FAA demanded an impact study before they would commit the funds for construction.
